Dynamics 365 Business Central Implementation

A Business Central implementation is the full build and rollout of Dynamics 365 Business Central for your business, covering the chart of accounts, dimensions, finance, purchasing, sales and inventory, plus the testing, training and cutover that turn a configured system into one your team actually uses.

We work in phases with something usable at the end of each one. That matters more than it sounds: a project that only shows results at the very end gives you no opportunity to change direction while changing direction is still cheap.

Every build decision is recorded with the reason behind it. When someone asks in eighteen months why posting groups were structured a particular way, the answer exists in writing rather than in a former consultant's memory.

What Business Central Implementation includes

Chart of accounts and dimensions

A structure designed around the reporting you need, not a copy of your old system's account list. Dimensions are where Business Central earns its keep, and getting them wrong is expensive to unwind later.

Finance setup

General ledger, receivables, payables, bank reconciliation, VAT or sales tax configuration, fixed assets and multi currency where required.

Sales and purchasing

Order to cash and procure to pay flows, approval hierarchies, pricing and discount structures, and document layouts that carry your branding.

Inventory and warehousing

Item setup, costing method selection, locations, bins and the put away and picking flows that match how your warehouse physically works.

AL extensions where needed

When standard configuration genuinely cannot cover a requirement, we build a proper AL extension rather than modifying the base application, so your system stays upgradeable.

Testing, training and hypercare

Scripted user acceptance testing with your team, role based training, and a hypercare period after go live where issues are triaged the same day.

How the engagement runs

  1. Design

We translate the discovery output into a build specification and confirm it with the process owners.

  2. Build and configure

Iterative configuration in a sandbox, demonstrated to you at the end of each phase.

  3. Test

You run scripted scenarios against real data. Nothing goes live on a demo dataset.

  4. Cutover

A rehearsed go live with a documented rollback point, run at a time that suits your finance calendar.

  5. Hypercare

Daily triage for the first weeks, then a planned handover to your team or a support retainer.

What you end up with

One system replacing the spreadsheet layer around your old ERP

A chart of accounts and dimension model built for your reporting

An upgradeable system with no base application modifications

Documented runbooks and a trained team

Who this is for

Businesses outgrowing entry level accounting software, companies consolidating several disconnected systems, and organisations moving from a legacy ERP that can no longer be supported.

Business Central Implementation questions

A focused single entity rollout typically runs 12 to 16 weeks from design to go live. Multi entity, multi currency or heavily integrated projects run four to eight months. The dominant variable is integration count, not user count.

Not when it is built correctly. Business Central receives major updates twice a year, and we deliver customisation as AL extensions that sit alongside the base application rather than altering it. Extensions survive updates, and we test them against each release.

Usually yes, and often you should. A common pattern is finance first, then sales and purchasing, then warehouse operations. Phasing reduces the amount that can go wrong on any single weekend, though it does mean running parallel processes for a period.

That is what hypercare is for. For an agreed period after cutover, issues are triaged the same working day and fixes are shipped continuously rather than batched into a release cycle. After hypercare you can move to a support retainer or take support in house.
